This beachfront urban resort in Bali breathes good vibrations

MAMAKA by Ovolo, a beachfront urban resort in Bali, has swung open its doors, bringing good vibrations to the Kuta-Legian area. Its opening marks the first Ovolo property in Indonesia and the first outside of Hong Kong and Australia.

The resort is located in the vibrant Kuta-Legian neighborhood, on the famous Kuta beachfront, one of the gorgeous places to watch sunset and among the best surf spots in Bali. To complete the island escapade, the area also features entertainment destinations and shopping centers.

A refreshing take on design

Ara Design created MAMAKA by Ovolo’s design concept. Enriched with Balinese spirit, the design incorporates vibrant colors and natural elements with sun rays, creating a simple yet warm atmosphere.

“Kuta is definitely in need of something new and fresh to attract more modern and lifestyle-oriented visitors to the area through vibrant colors, design, and a focus on details. We are very honored to work with Ovolo Group to help develop MAMAKA in Bali and deliver an innovative and inspiring design to the Kuta neighbourhood,” Ara Design said.

Art like no other

When you step into MAMAKA’s main lobby, the show-stopping 3D butterfly-shaped artwork by Punkmetender will greet you. Showcased right above the entrance as well as in the guest lounge, this is Punkmetender’s first-ever masterpiece in Indonesia.

Punkmetender, from Los Angeles, USA, created this unique mural installation, integrating three-dimensional butterfly shapes to portray a butterfly in mid-flight. The graceful action represents a connection on a spiritual and physical level.

“I’m very thrilled to present my artworks throughout the public spaces of MAMAKA in Bali, inspired by the intersection of street art and high fashion,” said Romaine, the man behind the stage name of Punkmetender.

Each room at this Kuta beach resort features the photograph collection of Australian photojournalist Jason Childs, one of the world’s top-notch surf photographers.

The photographs showcase Childs’ signature shots that focus on Balinese culture, the surfing scene and more.
