How to Spend 72 hours in Phu Quoc: Long Beach, An Thoi & More

Ready to discover the charms of Phu Quoc? Here is a sample itinerary for a 3-day trip to the island. This 3D2N itinerary mostly covers the must-visit and top things to do in Phu Quoc.

Day 1 in Phu Quoc

  1. Nothing beats starting your stay in a new place than experiencing the local lifestyle and exploring the local market. Visit Duong Dong market, the largest market in Phu Quoc island. Buy snacks and local delicacies to enjoy during your vacation. You can also purchase souvenirs for loved ones back home. While at the market, you will be wowed by the variety of freshly caught seafood available.
  2. Phu Quoc is also renowned for its fish sauce. Watch how the product is manufactured in one of the island’s fish sauce factories. While in the area, visit the Dinh Cau Rock at the Duong Dong Fishing Harbour. Also called Cau Temple, this oddly shaped rock formation is the local fishermen’s prayer venue before embarking on fishing excursions.
  3. Tour Coi Nguon Museum. Get a glimpse of the history of Phu Quoc as you browse the exhibits featuring over 5,000 artifacts.
  4. You can’t end the day without exploring Phu Quoc’s stunning beaches. Head to Long Beach where you can spend the rest of the afternoon. Stay until it’s time to watch the picturesque sunset.
  5. In the evening, head to Dinh Cau night market. Try the fresh local seafood and local delicacies at the popular night market.

Day 2 in Phu Quoc

  1. Head south to Bãi Sao and relax on the beautiful beaches which have long stretches of white sand. Have lunch on the beach.
  2. See the historical Coconut Tree Prison or Phu Quoc Prison. Now a museum, you can learn a bit of local history here.
  3. Explore An Thoi archipelago, the paradise islets at the southernmost part of Phu Quoc. Go on island hopping. Of the 15 tiny islands that make up the archipelago, the most popular spots are Hon Thom (Pineapple Island), Hon Mong Tay (Fingernail Island), Hon Dua (Coconut Island), Hon May Rut (Cold Cloud Island), and Dam Ngang Island (Gam Ghi Island). Spend the rest of the day swimming, snorkeling, and fishing. You can also ride a cable car and enjoy the breathtaking views of the fishing boats below.

Day 3 in Phú Quốc

  1. Almost always, the traveler’s number 1 reason to visit Phu Quoc Island is the stunning beaches. So on your third day, it is not a sin to spend hours at the beach again. Travel north this time and head to Ong Lang Beach.
  2. Enjoy local cuisine at Cua Can Village before heading to your afternoon adventure.
  3. Head to Bai Dai, famous for its soft yellow sand and greenish-blue waters. If you are a golf person, experience golfing on the island for a different adventure. You can also ride a giant Ferris wheel or interact with animals at Vinpearl Safari.
  4. If you still have time, explore Phu Quoc’s tropical forest for more outdoor adventure.
